It is amphoteric in nature and dissolve in
NaOH to form sodium plumbate.
2NaOH + PbO2 ——> Na2PbO3 + H2O
It is a powerful oxidizing agent. It reacts with conc. HCl
on warming to give PbCl4

PbO2 + 4 HCl ———> PbCl4 + H2O
It is a chocolate brown solid insoluble in water and nitric acid. It is a powerful oxidizing agent. It is amphoteric in nature and is used in lead storage batteries and in safety matches. |
